What first got you into music?
Our co-producer Neit once was driving somewhere with his family and his father put on an album by Deep Purple – Perfect Strangers. He was blown away with the first chords. (Upon returning home he rummaged through his father’s cd collection and found Black Sabbath’s live album Reunion that he liked even more.) That’s how his journey in the world of music music started and along the way he picked up a guitar to learn how to play his favourite songs as well as compose tunes of his own.
As for Allen, he was fascinated by other guitar players at school and wanted to learn this amazing instrument. Inspiration was coming from artists such as Bob Dylan, Green Day, Oasis and Coldplay. He found their melodies and lirycs fascinating and wanted to create something similar.
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
⁃ It’s an experience linked with strong emotions, like a trip to the Wonderland. In our music listeners can meet anything from excitement and hapiness to melancholic nostalgia. We try to create mostly chill vibes, mixing electronic sounds with live instruments.
What is your creative process like?
⁃ Usually one of us starts with a small idea – a guitar riff, a melody or an acapella part. It gets developed into a rough demo. Then goes the exciting part: an integral element of our creative process is to bounce ideas of each other. So a demo gets sent to our other member – be it Allen or Neit. He adds something of his own and sends it back alongside with a burst of inspiration. The process repeats further till the track is done. It works amazingly well for us, maybe since we’ve known each other for more than 10 years and worked together on numerous projects in the past.
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
⁃ If you want to stay where you are run. If you want to be ahead, run twice as fast. As an independent music producer, you have many job titles. You have to be musician, audio engineer, social media manager, copyrighter and many more. Staying on top of that requires time and effort, this run twice as fast.
What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?
– I guess if not for music, we would be boring depressed clerks. Music brings color and real emotions to our otherwise dull lives. Allen felt it fully when he abandonned music for his studies and career – it seemed like he had lost a small but very important part of himself. Music is our fuel and we don’t want to slowly pedal forward, but to ride ahead at full speed.
What is one message you would give to your fans?
⁃ Join us on this journey.
✖️Just let it Folk✖️
Allen Folk Prod. is a production team, consisting of two musicians: Allen and Neit. Initially the project started as Allen’s solo thing, but his creative light dimmed down as his studies and career took hold of him… Until some time later, when he was visiting his home town and caught that spark back again. The project came back to life, however this time Allen was not alone. Neit, an old friend of his, joined to accompany him in his music endeavors. That’s how “Allen Folk Prod.” was established.
Coming from different musical and professional backgrounds, each of us brought to the table a unique skillset and somehow they merge together perfectly, creating magical synergy.
We are truly amazed by the world around us. It brings us different experiences and emotions raging from excitement and hapiness to bitter sweet melancholic vibes. We try to capture them in our tracks using every tool we have at our disposal – dynamics, textures, organic and electronic sounds. Our end goal is to create chill music that listeners can easily get immersed into, music that would bring vivid colors into their mundane lives.
Add unique experience of living in different countries to this recipe and you get a duo of a bit cynical, yet light-hearted dreamers, with passion for music and desire to share it with the world.
